I was surprised at how light this bowl became. I typically only trim the inside of bowls to expose the marbling or add some aesthetic. The inner surface of bowls is usually left smooth from compression during the throwing process, needing no further refinement. This one is so pleasant to hold, I think I’ll make trimming the inner-face a standard procedure.

Free Palestine.🇵🇸 From the river to the sea.

I was born in Long Beach and grew up in Southern California the son of a single mother that worked her ass off to raise 3 children on a single income. We were low-income but never poor. There were times of struggle but Mom always took care of us, made sure we were healthy, educated and proud of ourselves. The greatest struggle I endured oft times felt self imposed in hindsight… trapped mentally in a world that I felt hated me for the color of my skin and my distance from wealth and privilege. I found comfort and strength in the diverse communities I grew up in and championed this Country, despite its history and the seldom but real racism that would rear its head on varied occasions. I almost joined the Army, spent a couple years in JROTC and overall envisioned a bright future… the American dream.

When did that dream become a nightmare?
How do my ambitions survive as I watch evil unfolding across the globe so regularly. How does one manage to stay whole while being desensitized to the plight of our fellow human beings at every turn? From the impoverished and underserved, to the abandoned and murdered, how can I carry-on as if this is acceptable? How can any of us? That is not strength. To wake and eat my little breakfast whilst taking in the updated death tolls of a people without aid. To boot my laptop and filter through work emails while news of the Airmen that self immolated this morning makes its rounds and we brace for an election that is certain to continue this spiral of empire.

How can I yelp while my soul begs I help? But how?
I’m sick, we all are. It cannot be denied. I understand how a complicit German public watched the tragedies of the Holocaust unfold. We are doing the same thing, most of us.

Aaron Bushnell showed a level of empathy and courage nothing short of exceptional. You want a hero? There he was. How much more will we watch?
